Men's 4x100 Relay

The only bit of live Olympic coverage I've seen so far were the last 2 legs of the men's 4x100 swimming relay. I came out of yoga class and in the office they were watching the race. I saw the US men fall ever more slightly behind the French with each stroke and turn. Until the last half lap when Jason Lezak poured it on!! Wow, I have never seen such a comeback. At one point, he was behind by over 0.60 seconds.

I did a little high-five with the office administrator. Woo hoo, how exciting. I remember when we watched the olympics when we lived in London. Being away from home, it's fun to root for the US. Feels a little more patriotic. I'm not ready to sing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" just yet, but it's fun to root for the home team. In Dubai, there are so many people from so many countries, it's fun to have a little rivalry with the neighbors.

Yea - I know I'm on the late show with this one. I'm sure this has been played and re-played back home. But in case you missed it: http://eroom.johnsoncontrols.com/eRoom/building_efficiency/ME_IT_Department/0_491ef

How about the swimming - Michael Phelps...so far 3 gold medals/3 world records, his name is in there with the likes of Mark Spitz and Carl Lewis. They say he has a chance to win 9 gold's.

USA 6 gold 6 silver 8 bronze=20
China 10 gold 3 silver 3 bronze=16
South Korea 5 gold 5 silver 0 bronze=10

The womens vollyball is fun to watch too - they are lean lean lean machine's!

Warning: Olympics Spoiler

If you've recorded to watch later, don't read.

Just saw Michael Phelps add 2 more golds and another world record. How incredible that he's only 23 years old. I think he's already proven that he's greater than Mark Spitz. The competition he's facing today is vastly more that what Spitz faced. Back in the 70's the US was always favored to win the relays (and that counts for 3 of his golds) whereas today it is a true competition.

I can still see in my mind that picture of Spitz with his 7 gold medals around his neck and eating his bowl of Wheaties. That wavy hair and mustache are back in style!
