All Together Now

Russell & Lyra arrived back in Dubai late on Thursday night. They're still struggling with the jet lag (getting up in the middle of the night, then falling back to sleep until mid-morning). School's not on for another 3 weeks, so plenty of time to work on getting to the right schedule.

The heat has been brutal the last couple of days. Yesterday, we saw highs over 115. The humidity has been pretty low and evenings are cooling off pretty well. Low humidity also means the pool temps are pretty comfortable. Still, it makes the day's pretty long. Lyra and Russ will be well and truly stir crazy by the time school starts on September 7th. Luckily the kids next door are thrilled to see Lyra and so the kids are playing together all day long.

Ramadan has been announced to start on Sept 1. In preparation, we made a booze-run to the emirate that sells liquor without a liquor license. They will be closed all of Ramadan, so thought we should stock up. We now have fixin's for margaritas - so, we'll need to have a mexican dinner one of these nights.

It's good to have a buzz in the house again. The non-stop chatter from Lyra is music to my ears (for now). The kids running in and out - and even leaving the front door open - is fun to hear.
