Lyra: Mama, why did the goose cross the road when he was in a bottle of water riding on a cow? How did he get so small to get into the hole for the bottle of water?
Me: (I know better than to say "I don't know") Hmmm . . . because he was thirsty?
Lyra: Nooooo, silly. It was magic that made him small enough to get into the bottle of water and he said to himself, "hmmm, I wonder what will happen when I get in here" and he didn't know that he was going to fit, but the magic made him fit and that's how he got in there. . .hee, hee . . . isn't that funny? Now you tell one.
Me: I'm sorry, I can't.
