Lyra Sayings

A few comments from Lyra.

"What a pain in the butt," she said at dinner the other night. "What's a pain in the butt?" I asked. "My fish died. And it hurts me to think about it." (this was 6 months ago) "Yes, I know you miss Man."

"What a RUSH," after taking a big gulp of milk. (I think she thinks it means something like - that was fast.)

"I don't respect that" - which I think she actually means to say "I didn't expect that".

"I prefer blue. Mama, you prefer red." She has discovered that her favorite color is blue and now everything blue is lov-er-ly.

"Mama, you have to drink your water in the car. It's Ramadan and even if we don't believe it we don't eat or drink outside because it's not respectful." Thank you for the reminder Lyra, I guess our explanations have made sense to her.

Big SOB and CRYING, "I can't hold it together. I'm too tired."

Hee hee! I'm inspired to reply with some of Anya's more recent comments:

"Red is best." - In response to any color choice, even if red isn't one of them.

"I like machines more than animals. Expect for penguins. And my Mama."

"I think I need to eat some pesto today."

"No, no! Too much talking! Too much talking!" This was during a recent meltdown, when I tried to patiently explain why she couldn't do something she wanted to do. It was followed by a hand held up, and the line, "don't say any more!"

And finally, last night at bedtime: "I think I feel a little bit sad right now."
"Why do you think you feel sad?"
"I think I feel sad because Lyra moved away."

(Of course, she's also getting a cold, which may account for the sadness, but we sat down and composed a letter to Lyra this afternoon anyway.)

Aaawww-so so cute! I can't wait for this stage. Of course my boss was a little freaked out recently when her girl was having a tea party with friends and said "Can I pour you some wine?" Not looking forward to seeing my reflection ;) ~lmc
